Welcome to CLAC 2010!

Welcome to the Web site for the 2010 annual conference of the Consortium of Liberal Arts Colleges.   CLAC brings together from across the United States information technology professionals dedicated to serving the unique and exciting needs of liberal arts colleges.

The theme of the 2010 CLAC annual conference, Blazing New Trails, reflects the unique location of this year’s meeting, Dickinson College and Carlisle, Pennsylvania.   First laid out in 1751, the borough of Carlisle stood at the western frontier of what would become the United States.   Chartered in 1783, Dickinson College,  pioneered a new form of higher education in the United States intended to break the bonds of traditional, European universities.  This intent reflected the energy and creativity of its founder, Benjamin Rush, a signer of both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. Rush’s spirit carries forward today as Dickinson continues to exercise leadership  in areas such as interdisciplinary studies, global education, sustainability, and civic engagement.

This year's CLAC conference continues the spirit of exploration embodied in the history of Carlisle and Dickinson College. Topics to be explored include:

  • New technologies and trends on the horizon
  • Management in a time of uncertainty
  • Mobile learning
  • Mergers of IT and library services
  • Providing on-demand video of course materials
  • Policy priorities for individual institutions and higher education
  • EDUCAUSE Core Data Service updates
  • Providing quality presentation and production technologies in learning spaces
  • Developing student communities in your learning management system
  • Digital dashboards for providing critical business information
  • Digital archives management
  • Ideas for promoting IT sustainability
